I like to have fun with my outfits and sometimes in the Winter, it’s so easy to blend in with the crowd because this time of the year most people are wearing all black with a down jacket or one of those eskimo coats. Not that I find anything wrong with this but, personally for me I like to see how I can bend that trend and still be able to keep warm.

Here it looks like I’m wearing two layers but in reality, I have a thousand layers underneath my sweater. The Heattech from Uniqlo has been doing wonders for me and I recommend it to anyone comfortable and warm as possible in the Winter. For a fun monochromatic look, I paired my plaid coat from Zara, with this similar plaid sweater and a black and white scarf for an extra added touch.

I like to wear pants during the Winter months, so I wore these thick ones from Zara that I have to try and stop myself from wearing everyday….can’t get enough of it.

Mind Mischief

Black and White Scarf- Made by me
Coat- Nasty Gal
Concho Hat- Forever 21
Scully Platform- Jeffrey Campbell
On a cozy day, I like to layer  strategically that will allow me to go ‘pantless’ but still keep as warm as possible. Good thing the day I actually wore this look was warm enough for me to just wear stockings to be paired with my oversized sweater dress and a nice heavy wool coat from Nasty Gal.
To spark a little interest and as an additional texture, I chose to where this pretty cool black and white scarf that I made in class. The scarf is designed like a sort of shawl so it goes over the head and sits on the shoulders, which makes it easy to pull over and pair with any outift. It works more like an interest piece rather than actually keeping you warm but I think of it as a fun accessory piece.
I hope you all had an awesome thanksgiving weekend, I definitely did as I went to Atlanta to visit family and then partake in a little shopping spree but it was all fun and I’m now back in NY, ready to take one the last week of classes.

Sleepless Gliding

Mixing different textures a lot this Fall.

Black & White Top- H&M
Mulder Platform – Jeffrey Campbell
Lace Cardigan- Forever 21

Since it’s so cold in NY during the Fall/Winter, it’s important to me to get creative if I’m going to be wearing a thousand layers a day. Hence, on any given day…you’ll find me mixing and matching completely different textures as my layers and this way I don’t get bored of wearing the same ol’ look over and over again.
For this post, I went a tad bit crazy and mixed both prints and textures for a fun monochromatic look. The top I’m wearing is one that I absolutely adore because of the cracked effect within the print that slightly reminds me of the Balenciaga AW 13 collection. I’m not sure why I did but, I made the choice of pairing the top with black and white plaid pants which I thought at first would have been too much but experimenting to me is always a good thing, because now I absolutely love the two together.
To finish off the look I threw on my floor length lace cardigan as an addition to introduce a different texture and of course, I had to break in my oversized neoprene jacket that I purchased at the beginning of the Summer and was dying for it to be  old enough so I could start wearing it (ps. I miss the Summer now). Let me know in the comments below what you think of this look!

Forget About Everything & Runway

I totally decided last minute to change my mind and post this look from a shoot I did about a month ago. I was a little hesitant in posting, mainly because there wasn’t much to the overall look and the pictures were shot at a completely spontaneous moment as a slight experimental shoot.

Around 5 hours before class, my friend and I were chilling on the rooftop of my apartment and we thought it would be kind of cool to just fool around with the lighting, angles and just experimenting overall with the camera. Hence, these were the photos that resulted of that. Just me playing around..and the usual indecisiveness when it comes to deciding what to do with my hair especially since it was pretty hot when this look was shot.

I was heading into the city for my afternoon class so, a simple button up white blouse with baggy trousers was my quick go-to instinct. It’s simple and easy for times when it comes to wanting to “dress down”. I went slightly minimalistic when it came on to accessorizing by just where silver accents to compliment to black and white “uniform” attire. I hope you all have a great start to the week and thanks for visiting!

Shuffled Boundaries

I’m so happy the weather in New York has gotten cool enough for me to wear my biker jackets again. Oh, how I’ve missed them.
Dress-Motel
Biker Jackets- Vintage
Growing up in the Caribbean, I was always so restricted to dressing for one season since it was always so hot there, ps: I didn’t mind. However, I love that with the constant change of seasons in NY I’m able to switch around my closet twice a year and for me,variety is the spice of life.
It has been literally extremely hectic with school assignments which is why I have been slowly changing out my summer items into fall/winter essentials to tackle New York’s annoyingly irresolute weather.
For this look, I wanted to channel my usual go-to move of wearing black and white mainly because I felt super lazy to tie together a color palette that could fit the present mood I was in…plus, I couldn’t quite resist wearing this cute little gradient number. Though I didn’t get an actual shot of it, I layered this mini dress with a white cap sleeved sweater top, both for warmth and to add a bit of depth to the look.

I’m pretty excited to see what kind of looks this season will pull out of me, since I can get a lot more creative with layering.

Disclosed Desires

Sometimes its the mismatched moments that I realize how much fun styling can be once you don’t take it all it uptight and serious.
Boots- Zara
Rings & Bracelet- from Jamaica
Serving a mismatch look today on le blog by combining two completely different pieces and somehow making it work perfectly for me. Let me first say that, this sweater top is literally the softest thing ever! Bought it at forever 21 and have had no regrets ever since. Clearly I’m in love with the black and white combination however, what draws my attention to this look is the very sporty aesthetic and the perforated details along the upper body gives it just that great touch.
Though there were many way I could style this top, I chose to incorporate some color and wear it with my “pajama looking” plaid shorts for a more laid-back and casual attire. Overall I really enjoyed the way that this look came out as it wasn’t too demure yet, had just the right qualities to still be well put together.

Somewhere Between Psychotic and Iconic

Blouse- Uniqlo (similar)
Black and White Floral Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Oxfords
Body Chain- Similar
Rings- Vintage
I’ve been taking a much need break from being in front of camera, just to figure out somethings regarding my career, school and lifestyle. However, I thought it was about time I posted this look I wore about three weeks ago before going to the Brooklyn flea market on Saturday afternoon. If you never knew this about me before, I’ll be the first to tell you that I love vintage shopping whether it be at a flea market or from thrift store. Just the idea of purchasing an item that has become exclusive and unique to its buyer is such an awesome concept to me…I’ll try to snap a collection of pictures whenever I get go to thrifting again.
I wore a black button up collared blouse that I snatched from Uniqlo (the cotton is to die for soft!), what’s strange is that I almost never shop for anything in Uniqlo mainly because it’s not quite my aesthetic. However, I went in there with a friend and came out with this blouse. As per usual, I tucked the blouse into a floral mini skirt, for a bit of a preppy attire. Since the black of the blouse was a tad bit flat photographic wise, I chose to wear my favorite body chain for depth and more interest in what could easily be a plain outfit.

Questioning The Exsistents

I’ll always find comfort in wearing black and white…such a great way to put together a classic polished look.

White Cardigan- Similar
Pants- Zara
Amaya Boots- Miista from Solestruck
I shot this look so long ago that I completely forgot about it until now. I’m wearing my favorite white lace crop top with a slightly slouchy fit pants to bring balance to the look. I actually wore this look one day for my internship except, I switched out the shoes for more flat comfy ones since I’d be running around on my feet all day. However, I love the unexpected addition of green boots to this look, as the pop of color brings a little more interest to the beautiful yet simplistic attire of just the black and white.
As you may, or may not know…I’m a fashion designer in the making but I haven’t quite showed that side of me that much here on my blog. For the next few weeks and possibly the rest of the year I’ll be working on a personal project regarding the designer aspect of my life which sadly means..I’ll be cutting down on making daily blogs. Now listen, I’m not quiting! lol “a quitter never wins” but I’m just focusing more on building up my caliber and making that side of me more known that just being “the personal style blogger”. I’ll definitely be sharing my journey here on the blog with possible videos and I’ll still update on the outfits that I wear. So I thank those who have riding with me on this blogging journey thus far and I really can’t wait to show more of my designer side to you all. Hope you had a great weekend!

Summer Bliss

Summer weekends in Brooklyn seems like perfection in my eyes. The open air, small restaurants and the people makes it all feel worth while
Band Tee- Forever 21
Pants- H&M
Sunglasses- Thrift
Necklace- Vintage from Jamaica
Sorry for the endless scrolling for this post, but deciding which ones to post was extremely hard because a lot of the frames came out so well hence my indecisive personality came kicking in.
This post is filled with all the elements that I love in one of my typically everyday outfits…black and white, band tee, great pair of sunglasses, awesome jewelry and comfy shoes. I realized how much I haven’t posted a look wearing a band tee in such a long time (funny enough I wear a band tee at least once a week),  however one weekend I decided to get snapped wearing this perfect Johnny Ramone tee  that I got really cheap at Forever 21 about a year ago.
I know this isn’t quite the typically “Summer look” but, sometimes I can’t help but wear my dark elements no matter what season it is as long as the material is lightweight and allows me to breathe without sweating like a pig in the heat of the Summer. Lately, I’ve been wearing a lot more of my vintage jewelry that I’ve had for years because I realized one day how much I began to neglect them for some of my newer ones…so the necklace I’m wearing is one I got from this really cool vintage store back home in Jamaica about 6 years ago and surprisingly still kept it after all those years! I have no idea why it took me this long to style it here on the blog but I’m glad I finally got to share it because it’s such a unique piece and goes pretty well with the overall look. A little pop of colour in my sunglasses was necessary to bring a little life to the overpowering black and white aura of this look.

Electric Avenue

Taking my usual all black attire with a Summer approach.

Top- Nasty Gal
Short- Similar
Shoes- Forever 21
Necklace- Jamaica

I finally back with a new post and I couldn’t be more happy to share this graphic black and white ensemble to kick off the week. In the early stages of blogging, I’d always wear graphic and band tees…I still do but not as much as I would at one point. What intrigues me with this top is the marble effect where the white details are printed, which somehow reminds me of lightning.
I paired the top but tucking it into one of my favorite pair of shorts right now. Though the shorts is pretty much a classic black shorts, the touch of lace around the hemline really brings something interesting  to the look and is perfection to me since I’ve been so obsessed with lace all summer long.
For me, adding that touch of color through my accessories help to elevate the look a little without overpowering the beauty of the top. Just a quick update with me, I recently started a new internship so I’ve been super busy fitting in “fun time” in my schedule but I’m making it work as best as I can…I’ve been doing a lot of exploring in Brooklyn and have been documenting it so I’ll be sure to post those photos here on my blog very soon. Hope you all have a lovely week!
