Sweater- Forever 21
Beanie- Zara
This post was from a few months back in the Fall, when it wasn’t as cold as it is now….I
was complaining about the weather then but I definitely wish I could go back to that time
because its even colder now.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this look with you when my friend and I was playing
around with the camera and then decided that this would make a great blog post. I know
I’ve posted a tremendous amount of all grey outfits in the past but its too good for me to
pass up…especially when I want to find something quick and easy to wear.
I consider this look to be a pretty simple, laidback attire mainly because it’s what I’d wear
on a quick run around the city for errands or so. I’m wearing this warm chunky knit
sweater paired with a tailored and almost “work” inspired pants. I threw on my oversized
neoprene jacket and some comfy boots but I could definitely see myself styling this look
with some cute heels and a leather biker jacket.
Let me know what you think!

Take Off From The Start

Casual moments in Williamsburg is the one things I look forward to on weekends.

Fuzzy Sweater- Similar
Pants- Nasty Gal
Biker Jacket- Similar

I finally decided to take this awesome biker jacket for a stroll about two weekends ago during the leisure time I spend vintage browsing and store gazing in Williamsburg. This whole year, comfort has become a major element in my wardrobe. So, I’ve been wearing pieces that can easy fit with each other that doesn’t quite take too much time deciding in the mornings on what to wear.
For this look I wore my warm and fuzzy top that I’m completely obsessed with because it’s literally the softest thing in my closet right now. Because it’s pure white it exhumes such a clean and fresh vibe hence, I went along to pair it with something a little more on the edgy side which is the plaid pants.
This ensemble is a bit more of what I usually like to wear when ever its not too freezing outside, as I am able to wear just a biker jacket and be good for the day. I kept it pretty simple for the accessories mainly because I wanted it to just be a more breathable and slightly simple look.

Mind Mischief

Black and White Scarf- Made by me
Coat- Nasty Gal
Concho Hat- Forever 21
Scully Platform- Jeffrey Campbell
On a cozy day, I like to layer  strategically that will allow me to go ‘pantless’ but still keep as warm as possible. Good thing the day I actually wore this look was warm enough for me to just wear stockings to be paired with my oversized sweater dress and a nice heavy wool coat from Nasty Gal.
To spark a little interest and as an additional texture, I chose to where this pretty cool black and white scarf that I made in class. The scarf is designed like a sort of shawl so it goes over the head and sits on the shoulders, which makes it easy to pull over and pair with any outift. It works more like an interest piece rather than actually keeping you warm but I think of it as a fun accessory piece.
I hope you all had an awesome thanksgiving weekend, I definitely did as I went to Atlanta to visit family and then partake in a little shopping spree but it was all fun and I’m now back in NY, ready to take one the last week of classes.

Mr. Brightside

Cold enough for a coat but warm enough for a skirt. Typical New York weather.

Sweater- H&M
Wool Skirt- Necessary Clothing
Coat- Zara
Boots- UNIF
I have a slight obsession with this green sweater that I can’t quite explain, but for some reason I’ve been wearing it extremely often since the Fall/Winter season begun. I was kind of happy I got the chance to pair it with this flared wool mini skirt because I’ve been so stuck on wearing pants almost everyday due to the freezing weather.
This look is typically one I’d wear for a day of classes or just a casual day around this city. One downfall to wearing a skirt on a windy day is probably the obvious Marilyn Monroe moments but I managed to not flash anyone that day so I guess it was a success.
The semester is almost over for me and I’m literally the happiest person ever, because I get to go back to Jamaica for the Christmas and will finally get some warmth.

Eager Eyes

Casual days. Yes, I’m wearing jeans.
Sweater- H&M
Boots- Zara

I was a bit reluctant to post this look, mainly because it’s so far fetched from my usual style and I was feeling super lazy the day I got dressed. However, I decided to just go ahead and share because I feel like everyone has one of those off days plus sometimes it feels good to dress down a little.
I believe I shared these mom jeans here on the blog once before during the Summer so, this time around I’m styling it in a more Fall attire with a bit of a bohemian/hipster inspired vibe.
This look was worn for a full day of classes and I was super comfortable all day, minus my friends pointing out that they’ve never seen me wear jeans before haha.
It’s starting to get extra cold here in NY, and I’m definitely not happy about that because all I want to do is stay indoors. I’ll be sure to post a lot more looks here on the blog but if you’d like to keep up with my collection developments you can always follow me on Instagram @marfarlane

Power Trip

Just another day, layering to keep me warm and comfy on cold days.
Shearling Matte Jacket- Similar
Blue Biker Jacket- Similar or (here)
Embroidered Sweater- H&M
Trousers- Zara
It’s funny to think that there are areas of my closet that are actually filled with coloured items which I neglect 95% of the time and then an all black section that is like my baby. However, once in awhile i like to dip into the coloured section and chose one stand out color to vibe with for the day.
If you’ve remembered any of my previous post from last Fall, I was absolutely obsessed with this bright royal blue biker jacket and still can’t quite get over how much I love it.
I love rich colours that are able to enhance a look completely and this is exactly what I wanted for this look. I wore this ensemble this past weekend and honestly, I just wanted to walk around Brooklyn and get some fresh air. So, I literally just pulled out the quickest thing I could put together without looking crazy and then there was the birth of this look.

Loud Pipes

Cant quite stay away from the grey palette.

Fuzzy Sweater- H&M
Sportswear Inspired Coat- Zara

A grey palette always seems to come in handy on days whenever I either have to rush to school or I just want to come up with something that does quite require mixing colors or prints. This look is a primary example of how I dress on days when I need to get dressed quick but still keep warm and cozy.
My weakest each Fall is wearing very chunky or oversized pieces, mainly because it gives me a sense of comfort which I love. I also went very minimal with my jewelry this time around just so I could enjoy the beauty of the multiple shades of grey.
It’s been so busy these past couple weeks and it’s only going to get worst from here on because the semester is almost over so I had tons of new projects working on but super excited for. Sleepless Gliding

Mixing different textures a lot this Fall.

Black & White Top- H&M
Mulder Platform – Jeffrey Campbell
Lace Cardigan- Forever 21

Since it’s so cold in NY during the Fall/Winter, it’s important to me to get creative if I’m going to be wearing a thousand layers a day. Hence, on any given day…you’ll find me mixing and matching completely different textures as my layers and this way I don’t get bored of wearing the same ol’ look over and over again.
For this post, I went a tad bit crazy and mixed both prints and textures for a fun monochromatic look. The top I’m wearing is one that I absolutely adore because of the cracked effect within the print that slightly reminds me of the Balenciaga AW 13 collection. I’m not sure why I did but, I made the choice of pairing the top with black and white plaid pants which I thought at first would have been too much but experimenting to me is always a good thing, because now I absolutely love the two together.
To finish off the look I threw on my floor length lace cardigan as an addition to introduce a different texture and of course, I had to break in my oversized neoprene jacket that I purchased at the beginning of the Summer and was dying for it to be  old enough so I could start wearing it (ps. I miss the Summer now). Let me know in the comments below what you think of this look!

Play

Playing with earthiness for a nice comfy Fall look.
TurtleNeck Sweater- Forever 21
Draped Jersey Top- Necessary Clothing (Similiar)
Shearling Vest- Similar
Das Boots- UNIF
Necklace- Handmade in Jamaica

Sharing this quick post of a look I wore some weeks ago that I absolutely loved. I was back to wearing my 6 inch platforms and plying light layers for a cozy look. Earth tones always look so warm and inviting to me so I suppose that’s why I naturally fell in love with this combination.

Since it was a bit chilly outside, I wore my turtle neck sweater and layered it with this beautiful draped tunic top that had a cool knot in the front. I usually always go for structured pieces so this tunic top was a pleasant change for me. Every since I bought it, I’ve been pairing it so many ways…who knew it could be this versatile. To complete the look I threw on some comfy black pants from Zara and the most comfortable vest ever! I chose to style the overall look with complimentary jewelry and my Das Boots from UNIF for a slightly edgy vibe.

Have an awesome weekend!

Portal Of My Soul

Dark, mysterious and Witchy vibe here on the blog today, just in time for the celebration of Halloween.

Black and White Sweater- Forever 21
Cape- H&M
Pants- Zara

The cape comes out whenever I want to capture a polished look that has the ability to give any outfit that little extra oomph, which is never a bad thing. I’m not all entirely into this whole halloween craze..in fact, I grew up in a culture that never really celebrated halloween so I guess for me the whole dressing up in costume on the 31st isn’t quite the norm. However, I must say it can be quite fun to get dressed up and be who ever you want for that one night.

Even though this isn’t an actual halloween post, I could definitely see a witchy or vampy inspiration somewhere within this look. I changed things up a bit and wore my cyber Mac lipstick with an all black ensemble, complimented with hints of white. This was actually a look I wore to class that day and it was kind of fun going back to my grunge roots of my early blogging days.
I added the o-ring choker and my draped pyramid necklace for extra effects to drive some interest into the look since,  wearing all black can sometimes come off flat on camera.
