Take Off From The Start

Casual moments in Williamsburg is the one things I look forward to on weekends.

Fuzzy Sweater- Similar
Pants- Nasty Gal
Biker Jacket- Similar

I finally decided to take this awesome biker jacket for a stroll about two weekends ago during the leisure time I spend vintage browsing and store gazing in Williamsburg. This whole year, comfort has become a major element in my wardrobe. So, I’ve been wearing pieces that can easy fit with each other that doesn’t quite take too much time deciding in the mornings on what to wear.
For this look I wore my warm and fuzzy top that I’m completely obsessed with because it’s literally the softest thing in my closet right now. Because it’s pure white it exhumes such a clean and fresh vibe hence, I went along to pair it with something a little more on the edgy side which is the plaid pants.
This ensemble is a bit more of what I usually like to wear when ever its not too freezing outside, as I am able to wear just a biker jacket and be good for the day. I kept it pretty simple for the accessories mainly because I wanted it to just be a more breathable and slightly simple look.

Screaming In The Dark, I Howl When We’re Falling Apart

Faux Leather Jacket- Vintage
Trousers- Zara
Shoes- UNIF
Body Chain- Similar or here
It’s already starting to feel like spring in air and I think that I’m possibly the happiest about it because it was a very rough Winter for me but, it’s been beautiful these past few days and I stocked up on a lot of blog posts to share for all the days I missed. For todays posts, I’m channeling a very urban rocker vibe by wearing loose fitting pieces and a whole lot of jewelry. I’m absolutely loving this kind of look because it’s very much me and such an easy look to put together for a great daytime outfit. I actually snap these photos on my way from my morning classes and wore a huge fluffy white coat on top for extra warmth but decided to not incorporate it in this post. Though I have a very eclectic style, I feel like my personal style is changing a little and I’m always looking for ways to experiment with my style so I’m excited to see where it takes me.
So, I’m back for good! I’ve been missing from the blogging scene for over a week now because I’m working on a huge project for my major class and I can’t wait to actually share photos of it with you all here in about two months. I’m going to try my best to send out as much posts as I can during these next two months but I’ve seriously missed sharing my looks on here. With that being said, I have couple giveaways coming up very soon so stay tuned for that!

Faux Leather Top- Zara
Faux Leather Jacket- Vintage
Boots- Mulder Platforms by Jeffrey Campbell
Just giving a quick update on a post I wore sometime ago when it was warm enough in New York to wear a mini flared skirt…oh how I can’t wait till this Winter weather is completely over so I can go back to wearing dresses, skirts and shorts. What I like particularly about this outfit I’m wearing is that it’s very   easy look to wear for both a day and night time with just a few minor changes. Lately, I’ve been into wearing a lot of forest greens and different shades of blue so you might see a lot of those colour palettes pop up in future posts. For this look I wore a faux leather sleeveless top in army green and I’m absolutely in love with how simple this top is yet, the construction details of it are so precise and impeccable. I threw on this cute black skirt to pair with the top and the off white faux leather jacket was added as a nice compliment to the overall look…ps. I’ve had that jacket for years, just not sure why I’ve barely worn it.
Spring’s coming up very soon and I can’t wait to start adding more colours in my posts because lets be real, even though wearing all black is perfection 99.9% of the time, sometimes you need a little colour to spice up your life!

Bruja

Oversized Vest- H&M
Top- DIY combination of two sweaters
Concho Hat- Forever 21
Shoes- TUK Creepers
Giving a witchy vibe today on the blog, with lots of dark elements and a random pop of royal blue. I don’t think I can ever really get over this faux leather vest from H&M that I got a few months ago. It’s such perfection and goes well with basically anything I wear it with…just breathtaking. For this outfit, I really wanted to experiment with layering two of my lightweight sweaters for a weird grungy mash up. So, I basically just wore the back part of my black sweater as the front to give the effect of a harness layered on top of sweater with tiny perforated looking holes. I really like this look because it’s pretty much very easy and simplistic but with the little tweaks I made here and there, it brought it up a notch yet still remained casual enough…or at least what I view casual as haha.
Anyways, it’s a snowy day today in New York…I was seriously praying for them to cancel classes because going to school on Mondays is always such a drag! I’ll be sure to update as much as I can…my schedule has been so crazy for this semester but for live time updates you can always follow me on Instagram @marfarlane.

Top- Zara
Pleated Faux Leather Skirt- H&M
Shoes- Grail Platforms by UNIF
It’s so strange it see how much my personal style has been tweaked since one year ago when I started this style blog. I started off very grungy and a little less polished but now, though I’m still highly inspired by 90s grunge…I have found a more suiting style that in my opinion is very edgy, still a bit grungy but in the right amount. That’s the whole reason I started this blog, I really wanted to see how much my person style would evolve when I moved to New York, based on my experiences change in lifestyle and simply by just growing up. I believe evolution is one beautiful thing.
For this post, I was trying something a bit new by playing with the organic movement of neoprene. I’ve never really owned anything made out of neoprene so I was really excited to build an outfit around this top. I love how sculptural the top is so I wanted to play with with it against faux leather textures so I wore my favourite black faux leather skirt with a blue faux leather jacket for an extra pop of color.

Velvet Crush

Red Velvet Dress- Forever 21
Turtleneck Blouse- Zara
Faux Leather Jacket- Vintage
Sorry for the little inconsistency in posting since my arrival in Jamaica, but I’ve literally had zero time with my computer so things got a little complicated. This is a look I shoot a few weeks bad in New York..the day after it snowed. There is something about this red velvet dress that is very vibrant and striking that makes it such a cute dress for the fall/winter. I decided to layer my turtleneck top underneath the dress to add a more layered vibe and also adds a little contrast within this outfit. I love that this look has a very girly vibe to it yet the little touch of faux leather adds something very edgy.
So far, my trip back home to Jamaica has been really great, I’ve already been having so much fun and it’s only the first week…I don’t miss New York one bit hahaha. You can follow me on instagram @marfarlane to get live updates of what I’m doing while spending time in Jamaica.

Checkmate

Possibly one of the coldest days in New York thus far.

Houndstooth Coat- Forever 21
Faux Leather Vest-  Similar
Pants- Uniqlo
Moon Charm Necklace- Hunter Gatherer
Choker- Similar
Channeling a little retro vibe mixed with my grungy side. It was freeeezing on the day I snapped this outfit but I was wearing a lot of layers, even on top on this black and white houndstooth coat. I’m almost in love with any clothing item that has some type of textile detail to it so naturally, when I saw this duo tone textile pattern, I fell in love instantly. I’m not quite a big fan of the 80’s however, I give a massive pass for this coat because not only is its houndstooth retro inspired design strikingly beautiful but, the fact that it’s oversized makes it pure perfection for this Winter. Underneath the coat, I wore  a black sweatshirt with a faux leather biker vest to add a little more depth and oomph to this overall look.   I opted to wear my oxfords and pants mainly because it was honestly way too cold to even consider wearing anything else without the possibility of freezing my ass off.
I’m glad Monday is finally here because I literally couldn’t be more excited for this week to end because I get to see my sisters for Thanksgiving, too bad it’s just as cold as New York there. Thanks for visiting and I have a lot more looks this week and a giveaway coming up very soon.
