Fall To Pieces

Mixing prints has always been such a favourite thing of mine to do…there’s just something about trying to combine two completely different prints/pattern and creating an interesting outfit.
I kept my hair simple and messy, like I usually do as the “bed head” look always seems like the easiest go-to styling.

Crosswalk Top- Nasty Gal
Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell

At the very beginning of the Summer, I remember styling this aztec inspired mini skirt in a post back when I lived in the city (SEE HERE). The styling was pretty different back then, as there was a much more polished feminine quality about how I had chose to pair things. However, this time around I wanted to the styling to be a little less feminine and slightly possessive so I paired the skirt with more darker elements and less accessories.
The top I’m wearing is one I got from Nasty Gal and didn’t quite think I’d actually like it or even wear it  but it seemed fitting for this look as the surprising element at the back adds for a bit of un expectance with these ginormous buckles crisscrossing each other. The look itself is great for Summer and with the addition of the black kimono it could also serve as a great transitional look from Summer to Fall, with little tweaks here and there. Summer is almost over and I’m really sad that I’ll have to go back to long hours working in the studio plus no more super sunny weather… oh well that’s just the game of life. Symmetrical Empathy

Baroque Inspired PrintedTee- Chicwish
Tartan Skirt- Everland Clothing (Dolls Kill)
Bead Fringe Cardigan- Vintage
Shoes- T.U.K Creepers

I love when I can wear a printed tee and it suddenly breathes life into an entire look. For this outfit, I went along with my usual print mixing by combining plaid with this baroque inspired print from one of my favourite tees. I was a little skeptical at first about working the purple plaid into this look but I took the risk and I’m really happy with the way it all turned out because the yellow stripe from the plaid suddenly played a major role in tying both separate together. I think it’s evident that my fringe obsession will never die…I own so many fringe items and I’m convinces that my life is so much better with fringe… hahaha. I decided to with this very “beachy/bohemian like” braid fringe cardigan because not only is it the coolest thing ever but I love how the gold beads are incorporated into the white braided detail. That to me, makes it so much more special. I later decided on wearing my creepers after contemplating my black Deandri platforms….but, I’m happy I wore the creepers because it helped in toning this look down a little.

Fall Wolves

Shorts- Nasty Gal
Kimono-Forever 21
Shoes- Hyatt Boots (Edge Of Urge x Jeffrey Campbell)
Wool Hat- Bebe

Lately, I’ve been dipping into the fall fashion season…not sure if it’s too early for that but when I wore this outfit, it surely felt like fall. For those of you who have been following my blog, you’ll notice that I’m a lover of colour, platforms and a compulsive “print mixer”. With that been said, I don’t believe I’ve ever done an all black look with the mixture of prints and slight pops of colors, so I thought “why not!?”. I wore a black and white sheer blouse that could be both dressed up or down and paired it with the cutest kimono that has these embroidered stitchings along the torso area…I thought it was the cutest thing ever when I saw it in forever 21 so it was basically made a compulsive buy and I can’t seem to take it off. To accesorize this whole look, I wanted to keep it a little simple with a more edgy and sophisticated touch so I wore  this amazing wool hat which is actually one of my recent purchases and I don’t regret it one bit! Lastly, and these amazinggg pair of oil slick iridescent boots from Edge Of Urge, which I recently recieved this week!!!! they’re made in collaboration with Jeffrey Campbell & Edge Of Urge and I literally could not wait to wear them so I knew I had to wear them like the next day of receiving them. I really hope you enjoyed this look and have a great weekend!

Voodoo Florals / GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT.

Top- New Look
Sunglasses- Zero UV
It’s been a day since I’ve been back in New York and I’m missing home already. Today is the celebration of Independence day in Jamaica so what better way for me to celebrate on my blog than to post a look I took while visiting the National Heroes Park in Kingston, Jamaica. This crazy print mixture look was something I wore on a day out with my family and as crazy as it seems I love it. I never would have thought I’d like this juxtaposition between a loose fitting girly floral pant and a grunge Egyptian high neck top. I literally just went with how I was feeling and wore what made me happy. I paired this look with cute summer flats and one of my favourite cat-eye shades from Zero UV… overall I’m happy with the way this look turned out but feel free to let me know if you think this is a yay or nay. Look out for more post up coming of me back in NY this week.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARISSA POON ON WINNING THE QUAY AUSTRALIA SHADES!!! for all those who entered, thank you so much and don’t worry! I have a lot more giveaways coming up in the future 🙂

Flower Bomb

White Floral Dress- Forever 21
Sheer Floral Top- Vintage
Shoes- Coltrane Boots (Karmaloop)
DIY Choker
I’m not quite sure what was going on in my mind when I styled this outfit but all I know is that I wanted to be covered in florals and be girly for the day. I wore this baby doll white floral print dress once before on the blog but I remember styling it a little “soft grunge”/bohemian like (here). This time around I made the dress look a little for free spirit and layered it with another floral print top but I made sure that the top was sheer so that you could see the print of the dress peak through the top.  As you can already probably tell, I love to mix and match prints and I’ve kind of been doing this type a styling a lot more often. I guess there is something about the summer that brings out all the crazy in me hahaha. I hope your week is going great so far and please remember there is still time to enter my giveway>>>here

Colour On The Wall

High Waisted Shorts- Newcomdigi
Holographic Shoes- “Zoe” by Miista (Solestruck)
Spiked Choker- ShopLockhart
Sunglasses- Zero UV
You know me and my mixing print experimentations already…so this is another one I did with polka dot and geometric square shapes. I will agree that this look is a bit loud and in terms of the clashing of the prints however, I basically just went with the flow and tied the two prints together by wearing a black knee high stockings and the perfect summer shorts. I threw on some reflector sunnies from Zero UV and my holographic shoes and my outfit was complete hahaha. The shorts I’m wearing is one that I quickly pull for on hot summer days before it’s so comfortable and is just the right fit for me. You can also get the same shorts in a lighter shade at Skinny Bitch Apparel. Even though, I think Newcomdigi actually sells the light shade to the shorts and a much cheaper price….there goes your summer deal! Anyways, I’m completely exhausted already and the week has just begun but I know I’ll snap out of it pretty soon.

Pulsating To The Back Beat

Egyptian Print High Neck Crop Top- New Look
Plaid DIY Muscle Shirt
Corduoroy Pants- Uniqlo
Shoes- UNIF Das Boots (Dolls Kill)
Quay Sunglasses- Nasty Gal

I’ve always been the type of person to clash to different prints that perhaps weren’t meant to be together but, I somehow always find a way to make it work. The outfit in the post is a clear example of my little outfit experimentation. A few weeks ago I came across this Europe based online store called New Look  and I wanted to literally buy everything! They have pieces for women and men varying from all different personal style and the prices are super affordable for someone who is working on a budget, plus they’re always having sales. Though I’ll be browsing through and shopping there more often as a first try I bought two high neck crop tops, which is something I’ve been searching for the longest time so when I saw that they carried them with all different styles, I knew that this was going to be my favourite place hahaha. Usually, I’d go for maybe a skater skirt look with this top but, I decided to go with pants and platforms because it was super windy that day and I didn’t really want to deal with having a Maryln Monroe moment. Thankfully, I don’t think anyone can go wrong with wearing pants and platforms.

Sun Of A Gun

Top- Vintage
Baroque Inspired Shorts- Made by me
Long Sleeved Blouse- Thrifted
Shoes- T.U.K Creepers (Journeys)
I know you’re probably wondering why I’ve been wearing the same three pairs of shoes so often in my blog posts but, that’s really because I go to my internship in the days and they are the most reasonable shoes to wear since I’m always running around and my usual 6 inch platforms aren’t exactly ideal. I plan to change it up a whole lot very soon and maybe retire my creepers and coltrane boots for a long time because, slowly I’m sort of getting tired of them. Regardless of that, I have to say… I’m in love with this look! I think the idea of mixing two totally different prints is really interesting and adds a nice quirky touch to an outfit. I would usually never wear my school projects at all but I fell in love with the baroque print of the fabric which I eventually made into a pant for my sewing class. I hated the style of the pants we had to wear, it was kind of a bell bottom and had the weirdest fit ever…so I chopped off all the leg area so I could wear it as a shorts which is perfect for summer time. I wish I had a valid reason why I paired these two specific prints together but I simply just winged it and crossed my fingers that they would go well. I added the touch of teal with the blouse overlay, as a way of bringing out the colours of the top and shorts. I have tons of new stuff coming to my blog very soon so, please come back and check it out. Have a great weekend!
