I like to have fun with my outfits and sometimes in the Winter, it’s so easy to blend in with the crowd because this time of the year most people are wearing all black with a down jacket or one of those eskimo coats. Not that I find anything wrong with this but, personally for me I like to see how I can bend that trend and still be able to keep warm.

Here it looks like I’m wearing two layers but in reality, I have a thousand layers underneath my sweater. The Heattech from Uniqlo has been doing wonders for me and I recommend it to anyone comfortable and warm as possible in the Winter. For a fun monochromatic look, I paired my plaid coat from Zara, with this similar plaid sweater and a black and white scarf for an extra added touch.

I like to wear pants during the Winter months, so I wore these thick ones from Zara that I have to try and stop myself from wearing everyday….can’t get enough of it.

Wear Winter white with a pop of red and navy blue blue for an airy Winter attire.

So after a super long break, I’ve finally come back to my usual full time blogging. If you follow me on

Instagram, you’d see that I have been all over the place visiting family for the holidays and also in the
midst of completing a personal collection for my portfolio.
Its been hectic for sure but I definitely missed blogging. I back from the warmth of Jamaica and smacked
in the middle of this crazy Winter in New York. This look is one of the first I wore thus far since being
back and its a been of a clean almost all white look for the dramatics of blending in with that pure white
of the snow.

I’m wearing my cozy UNIF  sweater from last season, layered on top of this beautiful lacey dress and tons
of other unseen layers underneath that actually allowed me to weather this look without freezing
completely to death. I added the touch of the plaid as an extra layer for warmth and also to give the look
a bit of colour.

I can’t wait to share a lot of Winter looks and I hope where ever in the world you are, keep warm!

Sunny Winter

 Just another day in Brooklyn.
Sweater- Forever 21
Skirt- Zara
Can I first express how obsessed I am with this tribal inspired sweater! I bought it during the Black Friday sales at Forever 21 and can’t stop wearing it. Surprisingly, I found it in the mens section  (I shopboth male and female clothes sometimes) and just bought the smallest size that could fit me
perfectly…even though its still a little big.

The quality is pretty great and its super thick and cozy even though in this post I layered it with a
blouse underneath because New York’s weather switches easily from being warm to cold and cold to
warm. As you can see, it was a beautiful sunny day and which allowed me to wear my neoprene skirt
and stockings . However, for safety of the wind and an additional layer…I wore an oversized coat which
is an item I’ve been wearing a whole lot if you’ve seen from my Instagram photos.

I have a lot more looks coming up on the blog and I’m hoping I can do a video diary real soon. Have an
awesome day!

Mr. Brightside

Cold enough for a coat but warm enough for a skirt. Typical New York weather.

Sweater- H&M
Wool Skirt- Necessary Clothing
Coat- Zara
Boots- UNIF
I have a slight obsession with this green sweater that I can’t quite explain, but for some reason I’ve been wearing it extremely often since the Fall/Winter season begun. I was kind of happy I got the chance to pair it with this flared wool mini skirt because I’ve been so stuck on wearing pants almost everyday due to the freezing weather.
This look is typically one I’d wear for a day of classes or just a casual day around this city. One downfall to wearing a skirt on a windy day is probably the obvious Marilyn Monroe moments but I managed to not flash anyone that day so I guess it was a success.
The semester is almost over for me and I’m literally the happiest person ever, because I get to go back to Jamaica for the Christmas and will finally get some warmth.

Forget About Everything & Runway

I totally decided last minute to change my mind and post this look from a shoot I did about a month ago. I was a little hesitant in posting, mainly because there wasn’t much to the overall look and the pictures were shot at a completely spontaneous moment as a slight experimental shoot.

Around 5 hours before class, my friend and I were chilling on the rooftop of my apartment and we thought it would be kind of cool to just fool around with the lighting, angles and just experimenting overall with the camera. Hence, these were the photos that resulted of that. Just me playing around..and the usual indecisiveness when it comes to deciding what to do with my hair especially since it was pretty hot when this look was shot.

I was heading into the city for my afternoon class so, a simple button up white blouse with baggy trousers was my quick go-to instinct. It’s simple and easy for times when it comes to wanting to “dress down”. I went slightly minimalistic when it came on to accessorizing by just where silver accents to compliment to black and white “uniform” attire. I hope you all have a great start to the week and thanks for visiting!

Caught In Magic

Ribbed Top- Nasty Gal
Shorts- Forever 21
Lace Cardigan- Forever 21
Necklace- Vintage

Greys, whites and light blue has been a staple color palette in my daily outfits for these recent weeks. I just love the light and airy quality to this color palette and can I say, this lace cardigan is everything! I scooped it up about three weeks ago along with the black version of it (I couldn’t choose between which one I wanted so I got both), it perfect for Fall and I know for sure I’ll be seen wearing it a whole lot.  I paired the cardigan with a simple baby blue top and a grey pleated shorts for a very clean and slightly simplistic look. I’m usually very heavy on accessorizing my jewelry but I thought it would be best to wear just one statement piece to tight the overall look together.

I’m aiming to be back in full swing with blogging daily again, as long as time will allow me to do so. I’ve been documenting my look for these past week so hopefully I’ll get the chance to post them very soon. I hope you all are doing very well and thanks once again for visiting my page. Daydream In Blue

Cropped Sweater- H&M
Shoes- Zara
Ahh! It’s feels like forever since I’ve blogged, I honestly started to have “blogging withdrawal syndrome” haha. The weather in New York makes me so anxious that I’ve been terrible at motivating myself to go out and snap my daily looks but if you’ve been following me on Instagram (@marfarlane), you’ll see how busy I’ve been at developing my collection for school. Anywho, I’m posting this look I wore over the weekend during the daytime. From the moment I saw this beautiful baby blue cropped sweater, I couldn’t stop drooling over how nice a chunky it was and a great transition piece into Spring colours. I paired it with a high waisted flared skirt and dark stockings  so that the beauty of the sweater would pretty much speak for itself. Another great thing in this look is this metallic navy blue boots from Zara that I snatched up some weeks ago and I literally don’t want to take them off…they’re soo comfy and I love that they are simple and classy. Of course, I wore a huge coat over this look because lets face it..New York isn’t getting any warmer soon. I have a few collaborations in the works and I’m so excited for you to see that very soon. I promise this times I’m back for good.

Icebreaker

Dress- Motel Rocks
Kimono- Vintage
Dolman Coat- H&M
Biker Jacket- Nasty Gal
Wearing loads of layers today on the blog. It isn’t getting any warmer here in NY so I have to constantly come up with new creative ways to styling from my wardrobe and still be able to feel warm and comfortable…. this look is an example of that. I believe I featured this beautiful dress from Motel about a few months ago but back then, it was pretty warm and sunny so I thought I’d rework the styling and incorporate it in a more Winter inspired look. I don’t think I can quite remember how many layers I was wearing, I just know that I had around two thermal blouse and a high collared blouse underneath the dress. Along with those, I wore my favourite boho fringe kimono that doesn’t quite play a role in me being warm but just added an extra touch of a bohemian/rocker vibe.  Of course a biker jacket would have been in the mix of it all and this perfect one from Nasty Gal did just the trick. I didn’t really go too hardcore on accessorizing mainly because there was already so many element in the look already.
I had a very relaxing weekend just sketching and getting some work done, I hope you all had a great weekend as well. Thanks for visiting my blog, I have lots of looks coming up this week so stay tuned for those.

My Heart Stopped As I Wither In The Cold

Dress- Zara
Blazer-Zara
Shoes- UNIF Lost Sole Boots
Back in the cold cold weather of New York and since being back I’ve pretty much been cozying it up in my apartment because I don’t think I’m quite ready to face the cold. There was a pretty terrible snow storm one day since being here so I went out the day after to snap these photos really quick before I froze to death. I never quite realized how many great Zara pieces I own in my closet and have yet to share here on the blog. The two clothing items I’m wearing in this post are possibly one of my favourites. I’m wearing a ribbed body hugging collared dress in dress with a oversized blazer, that has this sort of metallic checkered effect. I kept it pretty simple when accesorizing…with just light silver choker and tiny earrings that got covered with my hair. Since dying my hair to jet black, I’ve literally been unconsciously wearing a lot of either all black or black and white combinations….but lets be honest, you can’t quite go wrong with black and white.
I read all your comments and appreciate them all so let me know what you think of this look.

As Long As You Know Who You Belong To

Hardy Sweater- UNIF
Tartan Skirt- Thrift
Shoe- Lost Sole Boots (Dollskill)
Shot this look a few weeks ago when it was fairly cold but warm enough to wear a tartan skirt. I have to say, my favourite part of this look has to be this gorgeous sweater from UNIF…they clearly make the best sweater hands down in my eyes. I love that it has this tattered grungy vibe to it but its pure white colour makes it flawlessly perfect for the winter. I decided to carry out the slightly grunge look by pairing the sweater with one of my favourite tartan skirt that I was lucky enough to score at the thrift store and I opted for my UNIF lost sole black boots to finish off this edgy yet girl look.
Right now, I’m actually at the airport waiting on my flight to head back home to Jamaica. I’m so excited to be going back to warmth and sunshine. I tried to shoot some cold weather looks before I left New York so I’ll be sure to post those later on this week. Hope you all have a great week.
