Fannel Chronicle

Sometime last week I had such a great time with my niece who came to visit me for a week. I tried to take her around as much places as I could here in New York but sadly there wasn’t quite much here for a 14 year old to do. Either way, I took her central park for a relaxing day which was where I decided to snap this look.

I literally stepped out of my apartment unknowingly matching in forest green and navy blue…it was only until I was heading back home on the train that I really recognized that I was matching completely with my outfit and accessories .

One of my latest thrift finds is this really cool vintage sterling silver ring.

I’m extremely in love with this bag that I bought at a cute little boutique in Soho, I’m not quite sure how I got so lucky to even find this boutique but I’m just really glad because ever since, I now take this mini backpack almost everywhere with me if I can. The design is so sleek and unique, plus I absolutely love the combination of gold details with the navy blue.

Fannel Top- Forever 21
Boots- Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane
It was a typical hot Summer day, and all I really wanted to wear was something cool and almost a bit effortless. I couldn’t quite tell the last time that I wore a fanned top but somehow I randomly decided that this day would be the day. This post reminds me a little bit more of my grunge side which I use to sport a whole lot when I started this blog almost two years ago….with this perfect choker and chunky boots. I’d actually like to think of it as more of a more refined approach to the grunge style because everything seems a little too much on the perfect side and yes, I was wearing shorts underneath.
Overall, I like wearing these kinds of looks where it’s not too uptight and everything is simply easy breezy. I am currently cooking up some new looks, so that I can go back to posting a lot more during the weeks…but until then I hope you enjoyed this post.

True Blue

I almost never wear jeans so it’s super weird seeing myself in them. These are the one and only pair of jeans I currently own…reason being, I can never really find a pair of jeans that either doesn’t itch my skin or the fit is probably horrible due to my short torso.

Boots- UNIF Lost Sole Boots
Sunglasses- Thrift

The fit of these jeans aren’t entirely perfect on me, the waist was a little bit big for me so I had to wear a belt to snatch that waist up hahaha. I got these from American Apparel about a few days ago and never really thought I’d like it until I tried it on as a joke and ironically ended up liking them. They’re like mom jeans and I’ll definitely be wearing them for the rest of what’s left of the Summer.
I knew for sure how I wanted to style these jeans the moment I got them…it would have to be a simple attire with a cropped top and the perfect platform boots. For this look, I decided to throw on my deep blue velvet top with a sort of all blue attire in complimentary shades and with an addition of gold accessories my outfit was pretty much complete for a day of taking my niece around the city since she’s visiting New York for the first time.

Somewhere Between Psychotic and Iconic

Blouse- Uniqlo (similar)
Black and White Floral Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Oxfords
Body Chain- Similar
Rings- Vintage
I’ve been taking a much need break from being in front of camera, just to figure out somethings regarding my career, school and lifestyle. However, I thought it was about time I posted this look I wore about three weeks ago before going to the Brooklyn flea market on Saturday afternoon. If you never knew this about me before, I’ll be the first to tell you that I love vintage shopping whether it be at a flea market or from thrift store. Just the idea of purchasing an item that has become exclusive and unique to its buyer is such an awesome concept to me…I’ll try to snap a collection of pictures whenever I get go to thrifting again.
I wore a black button up collared blouse that I snatched from Uniqlo (the cotton is to die for soft!), what’s strange is that I almost never shop for anything in Uniqlo mainly because it’s not quite my aesthetic. However, I went in there with a friend and came out with this blouse. As per usual, I tucked the blouse into a floral mini skirt, for a bit of a preppy attire. Since the black of the blouse was a tad bit flat photographic wise, I chose to wear my favorite body chain for depth and more interest in what could easily be a plain outfit.

Questioning The Exsistents

I’ll always find comfort in wearing black and white…such a great way to put together a classic polished look.

White Cardigan- Similar
Pants- Zara
Amaya Boots- Miista from Solestruck
I shot this look so long ago that I completely forgot about it until now. I’m wearing my favorite white lace crop top with a slightly slouchy fit pants to bring balance to the look. I actually wore this look one day for my internship except, I switched out the shoes for more flat comfy ones since I’d be running around on my feet all day. However, I love the unexpected addition of green boots to this look, as the pop of color brings a little more interest to the beautiful yet simplistic attire of just the black and white.
As you may, or may not know…I’m a fashion designer in the making but I haven’t quite showed that side of me that much here on my blog. For the next few weeks and possibly the rest of the year I’ll be working on a personal project regarding the designer aspect of my life which sadly means..I’ll be cutting down on making daily blogs. Now listen, I’m not quiting! lol “a quitter never wins” but I’m just focusing more on building up my caliber and making that side of me more known that just being “the personal style blogger”. I’ll definitely be sharing my journey here on the blog with possible videos and I’ll still update on the outfits that I wear. So I thank those who have riding with me on this blogging journey thus far and I really can’t wait to show more of my designer side to you all. Hope you had a great weekend!

Summer Bliss

Summer weekends in Brooklyn seems like perfection in my eyes. The open air, small restaurants and the people makes it all feel worth while
Band Tee- Forever 21
Pants- H&M
Sunglasses- Thrift
Necklace- Vintage from Jamaica
Sorry for the endless scrolling for this post, but deciding which ones to post was extremely hard because a lot of the frames came out so well hence my indecisive personality came kicking in.
This post is filled with all the elements that I love in one of my typically everyday outfits…black and white, band tee, great pair of sunglasses, awesome jewelry and comfy shoes. I realized how much I haven’t posted a look wearing a band tee in such a long time (funny enough I wear a band tee at least once a week),  however one weekend I decided to get snapped wearing this perfect Johnny Ramone tee  that I got really cheap at Forever 21 about a year ago.
I know this isn’t quite the typically “Summer look” but, sometimes I can’t help but wear my dark elements no matter what season it is as long as the material is lightweight and allows me to breathe without sweating like a pig in the heat of the Summer. Lately, I’ve been wearing a lot more of my vintage jewelry that I’ve had for years because I realized one day how much I began to neglect them for some of my newer ones…so the necklace I’m wearing is one I got from this really cool vintage store back home in Jamaica about 6 years ago and surprisingly still kept it after all those years! I have no idea why it took me this long to style it here on the blog but I’m glad I finally got to share it because it’s such a unique piece and goes pretty well with the overall look. A little pop of colour in my sunglasses was necessary to bring a little life to the overpowering black and white aura of this look.

Fresh, classic summer vibing for today’s blog post.

Shorts- Forever 21
Oversized Vest- H&M
Shoes- Scully Platforms by Jeffrey Campbell
Jewelry- All from Jamaica
All Summer long, I’ve been living in loose fitting lightweight shorts..these just make things a lot easier in terms of walking around in the scorching sun and they are perfect for numerous occasions.
These ones that I’m wearing, I scored at Forever 21…they have this nice bohemian aesthetic to them that I really love and I knew I had to get it once I saw it. It’s really one of those pieces that I can keep in my closet for other Summer seasons and it’ll still be fresh and timeless.
I really wanted this look to be clean and slightly simplistic so I paired the shorts with a basic cropped tank top and threw on this awesome oversized vest over the everything to tie the look together. I’m literally obsessed with this vest, I call it the “the lab vest” hahaha but it’s just clean, refreshing and a classic style that can be style with so many things in my closet right now! Of course, I somehow had to incorporate my platforms into this look…I really haven’t been wearing a lot of heals all Summer because I’m always on my feet running around for my internship and on weekends I rather opted for a nice pair of short heeled boots to not put any pressure on my ankles. This day ways an exception because I was heading out to brunch at this really nice place in DUMBO, brooklyn and I thought why not dress up and be a little fancy yet simplistic?!
Anywhos, I hope you liked this look for today and don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below, I read ever single one of them and I’m really thankfully for those who come here on my blog to take time and read I appreciate it!

Reckoning Stair

Just another Saturday, chilling on my Brooklyn rooftop.

Shorts- Similar
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane
Cat eye Necklace- Glow Worm Shop

I spent most of the past weekend relaxing with some much needed meditation. I feel like rooftops are always sort of the best getaway place to just look out at the world around you and think, and that just what I did on the day I snapped these photos.
This ensemble to pretty much a mash up of pastels which is always the perfect colors to wear for a warm Summer day…the top is one I never really thought I’d ever wear mainly because the print is a little more on the bohemian side than I’d usually wear. However, I surprisingly ended up loving it and came of with many ways styling it for the Summer. In this instance, pairing the top with a cute pure white lace shorts seemed fitting as it was unbearably hot and the white makes for a good complimentary touch against all the colors of the top. All summer long, I’ve been battling in-between wearing colors and wearing a usually all black attire…I really do try to push myself to explore new color combinations so that I won’t regurgitate the same thing on my blog over and over again.

Electric Avenue

Taking my usual all black attire with a Summer approach.

Top- Nasty Gal
Short- Similar
Shoes- Forever 21
Necklace- Jamaica

I finally back with a new post and I couldn’t be more happy to share this graphic black and white ensemble to kick off the week. In the early stages of blogging, I’d always wear graphic and band tees…I still do but not as much as I would at one point. What intrigues me with this top is the marble effect where the white details are printed, which somehow reminds me of lightning.
I paired the top but tucking it into one of my favorite pair of shorts right now. Though the shorts is pretty much a classic black shorts, the touch of lace around the hemline really brings something interesting  to the look and is perfection to me since I’ve been so obsessed with lace all summer long.
For me, adding that touch of color through my accessories help to elevate the look a little without overpowering the beauty of the top. Just a quick update with me, I recently started a new internship so I’ve been super busy fitting in “fun time” in my schedule but I’m making it work as best as I can…I’ve been doing a lot of exploring in Brooklyn and have been documenting it so I’ll be sure to post those photos here on my blog very soon. Hope you all have a lovely week!

The Love I Grew Upon

Jumpsuit- Forever 21
Necklace- Tilly’s
Rings- Vintage

This is last post I took while in Jamaica last week..I chose to wear something completely different from what I’m use to. A jumpsuit! this is literally the first jumpsuit I’ve ever worn mainly because I can never find any that fits my body perfectly. There was still some imperfections with this one that I’m wearing because it was just wayy too long and sort of dragged on the floor but I didn’t really care about that too much mainly because I was on vacation and the print of the suit itself is just plain gorgeous.
The part which I love the most is the cut out details of the back, it really gives this jumpsuit a nice touch since the construction design at the front is pretty simplistic. I added a touch of silver jewelry as accents to this overall look and flat sandals for a nice stroll around the area.
If I were to wear this jumpsuit again here in New York, I definitely need to adjust the length or I’d probably trip over somebody in the streets and I’d also pull my hair back into a neat ponytail.
I’m glad I took this short trip back home because it had really opened my eyes to finally let go of situations that I had no control over and it’s part of the reason I’ve been in a funk in terms of shooting looks. However, I’m back to shooting again in New York, and I have lots of looks coming up very soon so stay tuned for that.

The Place I Call Home

One of the first days I spent back home in Jamaica. My aim was to keep it clean and simplistic.

Shorts- Forever 21
Shoes- Nasty Gal
Necklace- Tilly’s

Ahh it feels like forever since my last post. I’ve been in a bit of a funk for awhile now resulting in me not wanting to really be in front of the camera. However, I’m trying to snap out of it and get back to posting regularly because I truly miss it.
When I went back home to Jamaica for my week trip, I managed to shot a two looks and this one is the first of the two which I love because of its clean touch and possesses a resort inspired aura. You’ll probably seen me wear the top is a previous post (here), I loved it so much that I chose to style it once again with my loose fitting abstract shorts that was perfectly in black and white. I kept it simple with my  flat back sandals that I’ve been wear a whole lot all Summer…(definitely need to stop wearing them for awhile). I added a statement necklace since the top was a bit subtle, sadly the necklace is now completely destroyed from being crushed in my luggage on my way back to New York…so now I’m currently on the hunt for something very similar.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your week and I’ll get back to posting daily very soon!
