Stare Into The Sun

The moment when you find an item in your closet that you thought you’ve lost forever. That was my experience a few weeks ago when my oversized knit cardigan resurfaced in my closet while I was moving.
Reflector sunglasses are the perfect mix between a futuristic and hippie vibe…maybe that’s why this summer I’ve been sporting more of my reflector sunglasses more than ever plus they make for such a fun way to spice up a look that would otherwise be very simple.

I had family in town for most of last week, hence I took a short break from my daily blogging. I had so much fun and miss them already. Nevertheless, I’m posting this look I work while I was still living in Manhattan. I took a walk to Chelsea Piers to clear my thoughts and to just relax since it was towards the beginning of my Sumer break. Since New York’s weather fluctuates so much, I wore this warm and cozy oversized cardigan over a simplistic mini dress with an all over aztec print. If you can recall from previous posts, I remember sharing a look I wore with the cropped top version of this dress, see (here). Well, a few weeks after buying the cropped top version, I fell in love with the concept of putting it onto a flared spaghetti strapped dress and the rest is history.
I like to wear looks such as this, as I feel quite comfortable throughout the day and its one of those Summer looks that are toned down with just the right amount of accessories. I have lots in store for the rest of the week so make sure to stay tuned!

Oh how I missed wearing this reflector sunglasses on warm sunny days. Though the weather has been pretty much up and down here in New York, the day I wore this look was surprizingly really nice sunny day! I got so excited that I had to walk around the area and snap some pictures as well.
So for today on the blog, I’m giving a pink and black ensemble with a touch of green/blue shades. I’m not quite sure what possessed me to actually wear pink but sometimes it’s good to switch things up a bit so, I kind of just went with the flow and didn’t really question it too much.
This was just a pretty quick post before a head out to my classes for today, I have three more weeks left of school and I couldn’t be more happy!

Bug Life

Dress- Forever 21
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Scully
Sunglasses- Zero UV
Just giving a quick post for a great casual friday look. The most intriguing part of this dress is pretty much the nicely detailed crochet patterned down the middle of the back. I remember rushing that day to meet up with some friends and I thought the easiest thing to throw on was a casual little black dress because lets face it…they will never get old. Also, I’m really happy that its sunny again here in New York because wearing sunglasses actually make sense now hahaha. HAPPY FRIDAY!

Keeping it cool in basic pieces to put together a good “almost all black” Spring look. The day I wore this outfit was probably a worse day for me to wear a mini skirt because it was so windy and as much as I was able to keep my composure during shooting, my skirt was flying everywhere! hahaha. Anyways, I sacrificed it all for this look where I wore mainly black pieces and paired them with some pops of colour here and there to stray slightly away from a early fall look to a more spring inspired look for those like me who still like to wear dark colours for every season. I think my favourite this of this entire look would really have to be this beautiful faux snake skin bag that I’ve been wearing non stop ever since I bought it from Nasty Gal about two months ago. Sadly it’s now sold out but you can still check out the other great bags they have on their site.
I think I mentioned before that my style is highly influenced by the music I listen to in the mornings when getting dressed and for this post I dedicated it to one my favourite EP of all time by Cashmere Cat. I’m so in love with the all the tracks and could literally listen them forever! Check it out below and let me know what you think and you could also recommend me any songs that you like. Thanks for visiting, have a great day.

One of the things I love the most about Fall, is there you can basically take a lot of the things you wore during the summer and just layer it up with the possibility of transforming a whole different look. It’s really about approaching your wardrobe in an entirely different way by finding a unique way of mixing and matching separates that would otherwise be ‘stand alone pieces’ if it were in the summer. Ever since got this blue velvet top, I’ve really have been making the most of it and constantly incorporating in different outfit ideas. I decided to share one of my favourite looks from out of the many ways I’ve styled it. This is a very relaxed bohemian meets grunge vibe, that makes the perfect outfit for lunch with friends, shopping or if you decided to go for a little walk around the city. I layered it with this cozy olive jumper  and later realized how great the olive green and the royal blue of the velvet top complimented each other once they were layered. Of course, I had to throw in my big wool hat because it simply completes the overall aura of this outfit and the perfect sunglasses can never really go wrong. Thanks for visiting and hope you like this styling as much as I do.

Here’s another look into my recent obsession with wearing velvet. This time I decided to incorporate it into my skirt with mesh detailing on my top. I wanted this look to feel light and airy because it was such a bright and sunny day, which is something I really want to enjoy before it starts to get cold here in New York. Already I’m seeing signs of the fall season which I’m not too happy about because it’s been raining a lot. To add a soft and feminine touch to the outfit I changed up my usual grunge accessories and went for a more simplistic approach by wearing my a sentimental bracelet that my father gave me a few birthday’s ago! I LOVE it! Also for those of you asking, I got my hair professionally done in NY at the Napp Star salon in Manhattan please check them out! they’re amazingg and does my hair very close to how my salon in Jamaica does it. Anyways, it’s almost the end of the first week back at school and I have lots more stuff coming on my blog very soon so please be on the look out for that.

It’s been a day since I’ve been back in New York and I’m missing home already. Today is the celebration of Independence day in Jamaica so what better way for me to celebrate on my blog than to post a look I took while visiting the National Heroes Park in Kingston, Jamaica. This crazy print mixture look was something I wore on a day out with my family and as crazy as it seems I love it. I never would have thought I’d like this juxtaposition between a loose fitting girly floral pant and a grunge Egyptian high neck top. I literally just went with how I was feeling and wore what made me happy. I paired this look with cute summer flats and one of my favourite cat-eye shades from Zero UV… overall I’m happy with the way this look turned out but feel free to let me know if you think this is a yay or nay. Look out for more post up coming of me back in NY this week.

So I finally get to update you guys on my vacationing back home in Jamaica! I’m so happy to be back, and I forgot how much I missed not being in the busy city life. This outfit is probably one of the more grungy looks I’ve worn so far since being in Jamaica and I have to say my most favourite part of this look is the shorts! This is actually my first time wearing high waisted cut off shorts and to be honest, I’ve sworn to myself I’d never wear them but I have to say these are such an amazing fit! They’re from Nasty Gal and I absolutely love the front zipper detail of it. Also, I changed my hair color like a day after arriving here and it’s now like burgundy/red at the top and more of a dark brown at the back….Love it! I’ll take better pics of it and upload them as soon as I can. It’s really hard to update here but I’ll try as best as possible.

Oversized Denim Jacket- Thrift
Shorts- Nasty Gal
Kitti Shades- Zero UV
Necklace- Vintage
Recently, I recognize that I’ve been wearing a lot! of blue ensembles and I promise it really isn’t intentional and is purely just coincidence…I guess blue is the new black? hahaha anyways, this is actually one of my most recent looks that I wore a few days ago and I really love the sort of play between an oversized jacket and a high waisted shorts. It really gives the look a really nice asymmetry especially with the layering of my chained top underneath this sheer vintage blue top. I also decided to wear my new kitti shades from Zero UV and I absolutely love them! My last cat-eye shades got broken and so these new ones are a really great replacement. I’ll try to wear a little less blue tones from now on so I don’t kill you will blue boredom, although I’m really loving the blue on blu combinations for summer.

Colour On The Wall

High Waisted Shorts- Newcomdigi
Holographic Shoes- “Zoe” by Miista (Solestruck)
Spiked Choker- ShopLockhart
Sunglasses- Zero UV
You know me and my mixing print experimentations already…so this is another one I did with polka dot and geometric square shapes. I will agree that this look is a bit loud and in terms of the clashing of the prints however, I basically just went with the flow and tied the two prints together by wearing a black knee high stockings and the perfect summer shorts. I threw on some reflector sunnies from Zero UV and my holographic shoes and my outfit was complete hahaha. The shorts I’m wearing is one that I quickly pull for on hot summer days before it’s so comfortable and is just the right fit for me. You can also get the same shorts in a lighter shade at Skinny Bitch Apparel. Even though, I think Newcomdigi actually sells the light shade to the shorts and a much cheaper price….there goes your summer deal! Anyways, I’m completely exhausted already and the week has just begun but I know I’ll snap out of it pretty soon.
