Sharing one of my more casual daytime looks. There are times when I prefer to just throw on a baggy trouser and a comfy sweater with chunky boots to get on with my day, this post pretty much explains it all.
I was heading out to have brunch one weekend and because of how tired I was from working late night in the studio I just decided to wear a outfit that was comfortable and casual while still being a bit “fashionable”. I really can’t wait for it to get warmer here in NY because all I really want to do is pile on thousands of layers and stay indoors which is possibly why my posts haven’t really been too consistent.
Anywhos, remember you can keep up with me on my instagram page @marfarlane. I post real time daily outfits, some of my design work and pretty little things during my adventures around the city.

I have some serious layering going on in this post and I’m totally loving it.

Yes, The Style Alien has officially moved to a new hosting site and I couldn’t be happier. I delayed posting looks for awhile so that I could get everything perfected and to my liking so I’m exciting to share with you on the new layout of the site!
Aside from that, things have been really hectic between working on independent collections and getting ready to head back to school however, posting on here might be the only thing keeping me really sane sometimes. For this post, I decided to share this look I wore around a week ago right before I went to lunch in Williamsburg with a friend.
It was super cold obviously, so in typical Martina fashion…I decided to pile on a bunch of thick layers to help in keeping me warm in this dreadful weather. I wore a cute long black sweater that have this lace detail attached to it which is pretty cool, then I layered with my royal blue biker jacket as a pop colour against the black with another layer of my oversized faux leather vest.
Let me know what you think of my new layout!

Here it looks like I’m wearing two layers but in reality, I have a thousand layers underneath my sweater. The Heattech from Uniqlo has been doing wonders for me and I recommend it to anyone comfortable and warm as possible in the Winter. For a fun monochromatic look, I paired my plaid coat from Zara, with this similar plaid sweater and a black and white scarf for an extra added touch.
I like to wear pants during the Winter months, so I wore these thick ones from Zara that I have to try and stop myself from wearing everyday….can’t get enough of it.
was complaining about the weather then but I definitely wish I could go back to that time
because its even colder now.
around with the camera and then decided that this would make a great blog post. I know
I’ve posted a tremendous amount of all grey outfits in the past but its too good for me to
pass up…especially when I want to find something quick and easy to wear.
on a quick run around the city for errands or so. I’m wearing this warm chunky knit
sweater paired with a tailored and almost “work” inspired pants. I threw on my oversized
neoprene jacket and some comfy boots but I could definitely see myself styling this look
with some cute heels and a leather biker jacket.

So after a super long break, I’ve finally come back to my usual full time blogging. If you follow me on
midst of completing a personal collection for my portfolio.
in the middle of this crazy Winter in New York. This look is one of the first I wore thus far since being
back and its a been of a clean almost all white look for the dramatics of blending in with that pure white
of the snow.
of other unseen layers underneath that actually allowed me to weather this look without freezing
completely to death. I added the touch of the plaid as an extra layer for warmth and also to give the look
a bit of colour.
blouse underneath because New York’s weather switches easily from being warm to cold and cold to
warm. As you can see, it was a beautiful sunny day and which allowed me to wear my neoprene skirt
and stockings . However, for safety of the wind and an additional layer…I wore an oversized coat which
is an item I’ve been wearing a whole lot if you’ve seen from my Instagram photos.
