White Florale

IMG_1094IMG_1115Lace and florals are one of my favourite combinations, perfect for a casual Summer attire.IMG_1136IMG_1086Just sharing another one of these fun looks I did while I was spending time at my sister home in Atlanta. This look for me is very casual but perfect for the outdoors under a bright sunlight. The dress I’m wear is one of my favourites this Summer because its so lightweight and airy but still has a very girlie look to is. I chose to lightly layer it with a white lace top for that extra Summer touch. Since I was running around in the field, I saw it best to wear my comfy flat oxford shoes that I’ve been sporting around a lot in… it was perfect for that day and also all casual occasions. Let me know what you think of this look and tell me what you would wear for a casual Summer day outdoors.

Adorn Fringe

IMG_0757 IMG_0717

Fun Summer days in the city sometime calls for a fringe number to spice up your Summer wardrobe. In my case, I just wanted to feel free and flirty.IMG_0758 IMG_0720

I love sharing my more casual looks, where you can get a look at outfits I choose to wear on a daily basis for a more comfort touch and practical for the weather.IMG_0740 IMG_0677 IMG_0737

Sequined Fringe Top- Forever21 | Pants- Similar | Boots- Jeffrey Campbell

There’s something about this top that I absolutely can’t get over because I’m so in love with the feel and look of it. It has these adorable assembled sequins in an abstract shaped heart, which I find to be very fun for a Summer look. I’m generally not the type to be a fan of sequins but the fact that it’s not completely covering the entire top gives it a pass. The wide shape of the top makes it very drapey and gives an awesome loose fit.

What would the scorching hot Summer be without spaghetti strap tops and dresses because this one surely saved my life from melting in the sun. I paired it with a loose fitting trousers that I practically live in. I probably wear these trousers at least once a week, pairing it with different ideas and just having fun with it. It’s literally one of those pieces that you can wear endlessly and always find unique ways to style it while still remaining comfortable. To finish off the look, I accessorized with my awesome vintage fork neckline (yes it is made of a real fork) and my iridescent oil slick Jeffrey Campbells that I took out for play…I almost forgot I had it until I found it one day while organizing the shoes in my closet.

Conservatory Plaid

Visiting one of my favourite places in New York, where I go to sit and think but also enjoy the view of the beautiful garden. Decked out in a school girl plaid trousers and light layers on top for a great transitional Spring attire.IMG_9532 IMG_9545 IMG_9488 IMG_9393 IMG_9412 IMG_9529 IMG_9397

Trousers- Nasty Gal, Crochet Top- Forever 21, Vest- Forever 21, Boots- Zara

Whenever I find myself having free time, I love to head all the way up to 105th street to the conservatory garden in central park. It gets really beautiful this time of the year and can be such a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the scenery if you’re into the whole being with nature thing. As for me, I went there during my Spring break and wanted to stay forever.

I wore a red and blue number that day because completely out of nowhere I felt like having some colour in my life. I believe I’ve worn this plaid trousers before here about a few months back on the blog but styled it completely different (here). This time around, I wanted to play with the colours in the plaid so I layered my crochet top underneath a beautiful baby blue vest as a way of bring out the colours then on top, I wore my navy “Sorry Not Sorry” jacket since it was a bit chilly. I’m here excited to do more shoots like this one and I can’t wait to share on here!

Gun Metal

Cold enough to wear a jacket but warm enough to take the shorts for a ride.IMG_9362 IMG_9358 IMG_9343 IMG_9324 IMG_9261 IMG_9251 IMG_9231Spring break spent staycationing in Brooklyn and getting some much needed me time. I loved that it was such a sunny day but with cool windy breeze, which made it a perfect time to style these shorts that I’ve been wanting to wear for awhile now.

I paired the shorts with my gun mental sweater that I picked up while thrifting one day at Beacon’s Closet, I love the metallic quality of it so much plus it very breathable which makes it easy to where during the warmer weathers but with a much different styling. Since this look was more of casual attire for me I just threw on my biker jacket with a nylon trench for extra layer and also because I was 100% sure it would rain….which it didnt.

It’s Spring but where are the blooming flowers and warm weather? IMG_9151 2 IMG_9158 2 IMG_9199 2 IMG_9186 2 IMG_9155 2 IMG_9185 2

Cropped Sweater- Zara, Floral Dress- Forever 21, Coat- Zara, Boots- Jeffrey Campbell

I feel like it’s about time that the weather here in New York stopped fooling around and give us some consistency. I’m so tired about complaining about the weather and I just want it to be warm already.

For this look I juxtaposed a floral dress and layered it under my cropped sweater with a black skinny pant. Since I technically can’t wear a full on mini spring dress without freezing to death, I thought it would be cool to start combining my spring clothes with the more winter items. Soon enough I’ll be pulling out all my fun Spring wear but for now I’ll have fun experimenting.

Sweater- Necessary Clothing, Flannel Shirt- Similar, Amaya Boots- Miista

So I’m not sure whats it with me, but I’ve been particularly obsessed with this bright royal/cobalt blue and green combination. Something about two primary colours could seem a little odd and use to throw me off sometimes but clearly not anymore. It’s finally getting warm enough here in New York so I can start to wear more of my skirts and dresses again very soon.

For this look, I took a little throwback grunge element from one of my past looks…which is this beautiful olive green sweater that I ripped up quite a bit. Underneath, I thought it would be nice to layer with a complimentary flannel skirt with my favourite biker jacket. I kept it pretty simple with the make-up, I’m been going a lot more clean around the eyes instead of my usual dark cat eye, mainly because I kind of like an almost all natural look. Let me know what you think of this post, I can’t wait to start posting more often again and thanks a lot of visiting!

Winter Daylight

Plaid and knits in the Winter, for a chill day out in the city.IMG_8841IMG_8867 IMG_8826 IMG_8921 IMG_8905 IMG_8893

Beanie- Urban Outfitters, Boots- Zara, Pants- H&M, Biker Jacket- H&M

Things have been so hectic for me, juggling about a thousand projects all at once, making it quite difficult to manage my time better with blogging. I’ve missed it so much and finally decided to drop everything and post this look I wore a few weeks back, just before I was heading out to have lunch in the city.

Chunky, cozy sweaters have always been a strong go-to for me mainly because I get to be warm and comfortable yet I’m able to dress the look up or down if I choose to. Here I’m wearing this tan shade sweater that I possible stole from my sister because I knew she was never going to wear it, and I paired it with my plaid trousers  for a touch of print that wasn’t screaming “look at me” but, was more of a nice compliment to the neutral of the sweater. I had to wear a huge coat over this entire look but for the purpose of showing the look I opted to leave the coat behind and show the styling with my favourite biker jacket.

I’ll definitely be back to blogging more regularly very soon! thanks so much for being patient with me and I read all your lovely comments <3  have an awesome week.

Just Another Moment

Styled in a very comfy attire, just before heading to my classes .

Sweater- Forever 21, Neoprene Skirt- Zara, Dolman Coat- H&M, Platform Boots- UNIF

I can’t believe I went through most of the Winter  completely forgetting about this sweater which I adore so much. Though I’ve had it for quite sometime, it’s still very comfort piece for me and is super easy to layer on top of anything.

For this look, I paired it with my mini neoprene skirt and an oversized Dolan coat as an additional layer. This is a very simple look for me, mainly because I’m not wearing too many layers and its a look I’d wear this on a typical day to classes. It’s nice when you can put together a look that is simple and to the point, especially on days when you’re in a rush to get to your destination.

Sweater- Romwe  Vest- Necessary Clothing  Skirt- Necessary Clothing   Hat- Tillys  Boots- H&M

It’s been awhile since I’ve worn this this beautiful digitally printing sweater that I got about two years ago from Romwe. I remember loving it so much because the colours are so rich and the graphics is insanely cool which was a definite plus.

Since the weather in NY has been ridiculously gloomy, snowy and annoying, I thought it would be great to go completely against that and wear some bold colours mixed in with neutral colours of grey and browns.  Of course I added my panama hat because it always seems to perfectly complete a look for me.

This is a typical look I’d wear on the weekends doing leisure activities. Sort of an artsy urban vibe with simple put together pieces and comfy boots.

Yes, The Style Alien has officially moved to a new hosting site and I couldn’t be happier. I delayed posting looks for awhile so that I could get everything perfected and to my liking so I’m exciting to share with you on the new layout of the site!

Aside from that, things have been really hectic between working on independent collections and getting ready to head back to school however, posting on here might be the only thing keeping me really sane sometimes. For this post, I decided to share this look I wore around a week ago right before I went to lunch in Williamsburg with a friend.

It was super cold obviously, so in typical Martina fashion…I decided to pile on a bunch of thick layers to help in keeping me warm in this dreadful weather. I wore a cute long black sweater that have this lace detail attached to it which is pretty cool, then I layered with my royal blue biker jacket as a pop colour  against the black with another layer of my oversized faux leather vest.

Let me know what you think of my new layout!
